A's Rally Falls Short
It took the Oakland A's 25 and 2/3 innings to get an earned run on the Florida Marlins. A team that was a doormat to other teams over the last 30 or so games. The A's lost again today, 5-4 to the Marlins while losing a series they had to win. The A's finished 9-17 in June while losing a majority of its National League scheduel. Its the same broken record as last year when the A's went 10-17 last June allowing Texas to run away with the West division.
Trevor Cahill pitched 4 2/3 innings while giving up five runs (4 earned) on nine hits while walking and striking out three. Cahill was chased from the ballgame after four straight two-out hits. The A's offense didn't help matters in the game as they looked completely flat for the first six innings of a must win ballgame.
The A's will begin a three game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. Rich Harden will make his 2011 regular season debut against Josh Collmenter.
