W: Brandon McCarthy (3-5)

L: David Price (9-9)

The game looked to be a pitchers duel... even through the first four innings of the ball game. Then the A's would add runs in the next two innings off of David Price en-route to a 6-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.

Brandon McCarthy pitched eight innings of six hit ball giving up one run in what was his most consistent game of the season. This was only the fourth time in 14 games that he has gone at-leasteight innings. He also had three strikeouts and two walks on 113 pitches. Ben Zobrist homerun in the eighth inning, second in two days, was the only blemish on McCarthy's stat line.

Scott Sizemore got a base hit in his only official at bat. He walked three times and scored three times for the A's, who are 7-4 since the All-Star break and are playing possibly their best baseball of the season.

Cliff Pennington remained hot, going 3 for 3 with an RBI, while increasing his hitting streak to 10 games. He is batting .500 (18 for 36) since the All-Star break which is the best in the American League. Conor Jackson also had a three hit night for the A's.

The A's scored runs in four straight innings to chase David Price from the ballgame. Kurt Suzuki added a two run double in the eighth inning to ensure the A's victory. They have earned at-least a split in the four game series. They look to take the series tonight as Trevor Cahill looks to bounce back after a horrible outing in New York on Friday night.
