No Homers But A's still put 10 on Jays

W: Moscoso (5-6)

L: Mills (1-2)

For the first time in nine games the Oakland A's did not have a run scored via the longball. They didn't need to.

Guillermo Moscoso pitched his best game of the season. Giving up only three hits in six innings. The A's gave him plenty of offense in a 10-3 victory to close out a 9 game road trip 4-5 after losing the first three games to the Seattle Mariners. Hideki Matsui went 4-for-6 with two batted in and two scored for the A's, who took their second straight road series for the first time this season. Connor Jackson added a two run triple and had three runs batted in.

Moscoso threw six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) after a throwing error by Cliff Pennington on a play that could have gotten the A's out of the fourth inning. Moscoso remained calm as he still had a four run lead to pitch scoreless fifth and sixth innings. The six strikeouts were the second most in a game this season, only behind the eight he tossed in a 3-0 loss to Florida June 29th. Fautino De Los Santos pitched the seventh, giving up a home run to JJ Arencibia, his 19th on the season. Brian Fuentes and Craig Breslow pitched shutout innings to close the win for the A's.

Brad Mills did not last long for the Blue Jays, going three innings while giving up six runs on five hits, walking two, but still striking out five. The six run third inning would do him in for the day as he lost his second game of the season. Luiz Perez pitched the four run sixth inning, with only one run being earned to him after his own throwing error on a ground ball by Ryan Sweeney, scoring two of those runs.

Player Of The Game: Moscoso: 6 Inn, 2 R (1 ER), 3 H, 6 K, 2 BB

The A's start a three game series with the Texas Rangers on Friday. CJ Wilson, who I will be writing my feelings about later in the day, will take the mound after some less than flattering comments about the Coliseums mound, and A's fans in general. He will face Brandon McCarthy for the A's.
